i like mono tub , its simple and it works just fine.

but its more expensive
i make my own , i dont even use a petri dish anymore
i use half pint plastic jars made of PP5
so i can reuse, a little more bulky but cheap.
i paid 12 bucks for 4 oz of agar media
mixed with some oat meal and water
sterilized , it works great.
mycopath sells 500 ml of ready to use malt extract agar for 11 bucks
http://www.mycopath.com/sterile-malt-extra...500ml-p-29.html
just get some plastic containers like

made of pp5 can resist a PC
petri dishes are the best choice
but this is good for us guys that have less options.

personally i prefer a monotub setup but i use 4 inch filter patches...about a dozen for a tub the size of the one in the photo.
if you dont filter your holes....eventually youre either going to run into trichoderma, botrytis, or penecillium.....and its tougher to maintain an RH without filters as well.
its hard to argue with success though....ive seen plenty of very successful grows done in unfiltered shotgun tubs.

ive been to this site before. do they take paypal? i plan on making my own dish but just not yet. do you have to still fan a mono tub? can you use tyvek instead of polyfill?

mono tub has less FAE so you have to fan more and mist less but it is protected by polyfill.
mono hybrid gets more air in there , less fanning ,more misting
and less protection.
Ive seen both ways with good results , i have seen more grows with mono tubs than hybrids
so you have to see what tek works best for you.
which is best ?
depends on what to do do for maintenance of the tubs
also genetics play a role in yields
substrate moist etc
you may have the best tub in the world
but all of the above cant be ignored
mono tubs are a proven method to me
why fix something that ain't broken
